Discipline Lead – FPSO Life of Field / Field Operations (Systems Control Engineer)

Qualifications: 

• BSc or MSC level qualifications in an Engineering Science.  MBA an advantage.

Professional Experience:  

• Professional experience 10+ years, performing a similar or related function.

Qualifications/General Professional, Technical and Multidisciplinary Knowledge:

• English fluently; strong comprehension, written and oral required; Portuguese language skills an advantage.

• Advanced SAP skills.

• Common computer program skills from user point of view.

• Offshore certification (medical & basic Safety training w/ HUET).

Specific Skills

• Very good knowledge software engineering.

• Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), particularly Emerson Delta V.

• Knowledge of emergency closure systems (ESD), compression control systems, gas turbine systems and Foundation Fieldbus.

• Knowledge of drawings and industrial processes.

• Knowledge of Economical principles and calculation methods.

• Knowledge of standards, specifications and codes of O&G  industry.

Performance Conditions

Onshore function performed in an environment without any significant nuisance.  Offshore function can expose to normal offshore occupational hazards.  

Impact of Function in the Results

Indirect mode Contribution. Compound operations or interpreting services, advice or help for use by others in their activities.  The function itself, contributes very little to the results of the team/Company. Low impact (waste of time, waste of materials, etc.)

Mission

Provides technical and engineering supports for instrumentation and control systems as related to field operations (FCM, sensor array, SCM, MCM, FPSO, and ancillary equipment).

Responsibilities /Activities

Daily Operations:

• Solves issues that may affect the operability of the offshore production.

• Responsible for Management of Change and obsolesce management of Control System and related hardwares and softwares.  Coordinates closely w/ field support apparatus at Aberdeen.

• Project Manager for mini-Projects involving equipment / systems upgrades or modifications to Controls related equipment.

• Follows closely status of equipment export for repair or moficiation as well as equipment being maintained on the base or local subcontractors.  Provides suppliers problem resolution as technical lead.   

• Authors procedures and checks / approves those provided by Base engineers.   

• Assists in the provision of commercial proposals and budgets for maintenance, modifications projects, new contract tenders, and / or contractual amendments as required.

• Ensures the adequate communication with each technical area of the project, making sure it is implemented in a timely manner.

• Reviews technical requirements of proposals related to his specific area, suggesting the best technical solutions.

• Reports engineering questions and non-compliance reports appropriately, ensuring record maintenance.

• Provides direct engineering support as required for offshore problem solving as required.  

• Participates, when required, in the design processes, safety assessments, HAZID and HAZOP studies and risk assessments, etc.

• Trains local Base Engineers as required.  

• Clarifies technical issues pertaining to area of expertise raised by the client.

• When necessary, travels out of the platform, rig, FPSO, or vessel to assist in solving problems.

HSE

• Aware of his / her individual responsibilities with regard to HSE, complying with Company Policies and Legal Requirements.

• Acts according to HSE Standards, encouraging their compliance among the other employees of the department, according to their level of competence.  Sets the standard for safe behavior.  

• Maintains an active role in identifying opportunities for improvement to HSE Systems, supporting their implementation, where necessary.
