Director of Operations and Logistics

Defining the Strategic Operational Priorities of the Group on an ongoing basis, and the best solutions and vendors that are best suited to achieving these priorities;

Active Leadership, Management and controlling of all aspects of the Field Operations of Import activities into Angola;

Operations will involve all ground operations activities including documentation, vendors & carrier relations. On a day to day basis, this role will be required to ensure consistent, seamless end-to-end delivery of operations;

Active engagement of any private or public stakeholders crucial to continued project success, including project partners;

Timely and accurate reporting of operational information to the Board and other stakeholders.

Building a young, dynamic and motivated team of Operational and Logistics Professionals;

Leading the team to achieve best-in-class Operations Delivery;

Set clear objectives, process guidelines and guide team members to achieve targets and performance standards;

Develop a robust plan that ensure employee engagement and continued professional growth;

This position is based in Luanda, Angola, but may require occasional travel to North Africa and/or Europe;

Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in an Operations and/or logistics related field, MBA or related graduate degree will be an advantage;

Proven track record and 10+ years’ experience in managing large and complex Operations service teams, with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a Senior Management capacity;

Strong International Mind-set, and ability to interact well across a broad array of senior-level stakeholders;

Strong Written and Spoken Business English and Portuguese;

Broad and varied Experience in Import Operations across all the logistics products & processes in Angola - Sea, Air, VAS including Trucking, CHB, Warehousing and Cargo-
Insurance;

Systematic Thinker and Process Builder, well organized when working under pressure;

Lean / Sigma, Process knowledge is a plus;

Conveys a sense of urgency and drives issues to closure, persists despite obstacles and opposition;

Strong Leadership abilities to attract, develop & retain talent in the organisation.
