Operations Technician

 Carry out plant operation tasks, which may include but will not be limited to the following:
 Completion of daily and / or watch keeping duties.
 Completion of Operational scheduled routines.
 Assurance of plant and equipment performance criteria, isolation integrity, process stability, and
process optimisation.
 Carry out first line maintenance on all plant equipment.
 Preparation for and implementation of plant start up and shut down.
 Adjustment of level, temperature, pressure, composition, flow, speed, position and responseparameters
 Process and Mechanical Isolations.
 Vent to flare and atmosphere, drain and purge.
 Replacement of, filter elements, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, chemicals and coolant.
 Hazard detection including fire, gas, explosion, occupational, and impact risks.
 Hazard protection including extinguishant delivery and hazard containment.
 Lifting and handling.
 Permit to Work responsibilities.
 Carry out routine gas testing for hot work and confined space entry.
Reception and Separation facilities, where applicable: May include but will not be limited to the
following:
 Methanol Injection, Liquid/gas separation, Gas and Condensate conditioning, Condensate
pumping.
Gas Conditioning, where applicable: May include but will not be limited to the following:
 Gas compression, Flash gas Conditioning and Compression, Gas conditioning, Gas dehydration
including Glycol conditioning, Gas contacting facilities, Glycol pumping facilities, Sales Gas
heating facilities, NGL conditioning including turbo-expansion.
Pipelines and metering, where applicable: May include but will not be limited to the following:
 Metering systems; Gas, allocation, condensate export, flash gas, gas export, fuel gas and
associated analysers and sampling systems.
 Pig launchers and receivers, Fuel conditioning and transport including gas and diesel.
 Flaring, venting and drainage
Utility Systems, where applicable: May include but will not be limited to the following:
 Electrical power generation plant, Emergency Power Generators, AC & DC electrical power
distribution and protection, Compressed Air, Potable Water, Chemical storage and distribution,
HVAC, Telecommunications and information systems, Nitrogen and air conditioning and
transport.

 Fluent oral and written English
 Apprenticeship or significant equivalent experience
 City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 trade qualification or equivalent
 Evidence of CMMS (SAP) training or equivalent
 Demonstrable evidence of use, understanding and interpretation of technical Plant drawings,
symbols, P&ID’s, and Isometrics.
 HNC or equivalent Engineering higher education
 Extensive field experience in maintenance, operation and failure cause and analysis.
 Professional membership
 Proficient in Microsoft systems and packages
 Permit to work systems and process understanding
 Has working knowledge or experience in key skills sufficient to take on assignments within own
discipline
 Acts on own to improve technical knowledge
 Understands the fundamental principle of own discipline
 Has basic competence in key skills
 Has basic knowledge and awareness of key skills
 Basic data analysis and interpretation skills
 Questions and confirms understanding of how own work activities support and align with HSE
targets and business goals
 Supports the positive safety culture in the organization.
 Intervenes to highlight or ‘stop the job’ in response to poorly-manage
